KNOBSDesign, New York

The architects José Salinas and Markus Randler from KNOBSDesign, New York understand architecture design as augmented interactive environments and its exploring inner living spaces, shaped by external machinist systems of information that transform and generate new topological configurations.

KNOBSDesign develop new design stragegies of topological variations, transformations and mutations for example the principle of scale-less-ness, which suggesting the visualization of a whole allows the constant and active positioning towards adaptable environments in order to understand and capture dynamic interactions between the architectural intervention and the existing environmental conditions.

The installation ‘Architecture Within’ of KNOBSDesign in the Aedes East Extension Pavilion will show the search of space and its consolidation at different scales simultaneously, allowing a continuous shift between urban, architectural, furnishing, intimate and all other scales within. Presented will be several projects from recent years: the urban scheme for a plasma research park in Japan, the proposed media arts center in Korea and conceptual architectural experiments in large format Cibachrome prints and a mutimedia animation projection.

The work of KNOBSDesign has been exhibited internationally in numerous galleries, including: Schafler Gallery, Pratt Institute, New York 2005. Galeria Arificial, Madrid 2004. Taubman College Gallery, University of Michigan 2004. AIA Center for Architecture. New York 2004. Batofar Multimedia Event, Paris 2003. Wi-Fi in the Royal Gardens, Copenhagen 2003.
