The exhibition Wall Pieces in the Aedes East Extension Pavilion presents movable concrete sculptures hidden in walls by the german artist Joachim Manz. By closer examination the simple outlines indicated on the exhibition walls turn out to be small gaps. Once touched, the supposed drawing moves out of the wall and thereby offers a partial view on the the architecture inside. The changing position of the concrete part results in different relations between teh cave like inside and its moving counterpart. In his ironic play with perception Joachim manz directs the attention to the finer points of the in- and the outside. Joachim Manz works as a freelance artist for sixteen years on the borderlines of architecture and sculpture. Among other awards he received the Villa Massimo scholarship of the Federals Republic of Germany in Rome as well as the "Kunstfond" scholarship of the city of Bonn/Germany.
