Gottfried Böhm and his son Markus Böhm show two distinctively different approaches towards the theme of "Visions". While the architect Gottfried Böhm, fascinated by ideas of utopia, focuses on the future city: megastructures growing into the sky as a clear rejection of urban sprawl, Markus Böhm is mainly concerned in his work with the artistic transformation of his central themes astronomy and physics, e.g. in the ceiling and the floor paintings of the municipal library Ulm.
Especially in the recent past, exploring the future city has become the focal point of Gottfried Böhm´s work. The exhibition - as a dialogue with the artistic works of Markus Böhm - shows the fantastic as well as the radical city visions to which Gottfried Böhm and his wife Elisabeth, who passed away last year, inspired each other throughout their lives.
On the occasion of his 93. birthday on January 23 2013, we would like to honour the great architect, wonderful person and friend Gottfried Böhm with a reception and an exhibition. With his sculptural constructions, the only German Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate has created 20th century icons and influenced architects all over the world.
We are looking forward to welcome you!
