Does Architecture Need Ideology?

The question “Does Architecture Need Ideology?” will channel the view on the ideological dimension of architecture to evoke a vivid discussion between guests, architects and urban planner from North Korea, who visit the Federal Capital Berlin for the first time, and from Germany. Furthermore, the different systems of values and the ideological background of urban planning nowadays are to discuss: What kind of (im)possibilities will be generated by confronting the ideological concept of urban planning of Kim Jong II with a “Western”, not synchronized and assumed more open context of urban development?

Roundtable:
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Myong Ho Jong
(Senior Architect of the Academy of Architecture in Pyongyang, North Korea)
Prof. Dr. habil. Ok Pak (Member of the Central Committee of the Association of the Architects, North Korea)
Dr.-Ing In So Pak (Academy of Architecture in Pyongyang, North Korea)
Regula Lüscher (Diretor Senate Department for Urban Development Berlin)
Christian Posthofen (a42.org, Architecture and Urban Research)
Prof. Arno Brandlhuber (a42.org, Architecture and Urban Research)

The event will be held in German.
