Kister Scheithauer Gross - van den Valentyn und Schulz - Hillebrandt + Schulz
Though the historical city structure of Halle is rather fascinating, it has been
paid less attention to by visitors and tourists than other city centers like
Dresden or Leipzig.
Thus the slower progression of the city center´s development can be
explained on the one hand, on the other hand it reveals the chance to
approach historical topographies with a specific contemporary attitude.
The architects concerned with this exhibition are linked by a sculptural
symbolism in their architecture.
Apart from the Juridicum by Thomas van den Valentyn and Gernot Schulz,
five other buildings are to be constructed at the moment - each interpreting
the place by an individual mode and thus contributing to the weaving of the
city center: the "Händelhaus-Karree" by Kister Scheithauer Gross, an area
around the birthplace of G.F. Händel, and the Institute of Biology of the
Martin-Luther University on top of the Weinberg.
The design for a departmentstore on the historical market place is still a
point of public discussion.
Apart from the cooperation with Thomas van den Valentyn concerning the
Juridicum and the design for the competition for the new Audimax together
with Annette Hillebrandt, Gernot Schulz has taken over the further planning
of the Audimax (under construction at the moment) and has recently
worked on the completion of a students´hostel near the Landrain.
The exhibition will represent these six projects by means of models,
designs, sketches and plans.
Speakers for the opening evening will be
Kristin Feireiss, Berlin/Rotterdam
the mayor from Halle, Ingrid Häussler
Dr. Friedrich Busmann (Halle)
Andreas Ruby (Berlin).
